Caribbean Series: News, History, Teams & Hermosillo 2027

Independent bilingual coverage of the Caribbean Series — history, news, legends, and the road to Hermosillo 2027. Covering LIDOM, LMP, LVBP, and LBPRC.

What is the Caribbean Series?

The Caribbean Series is the annual championship of Caribbean winter baseball, played every February since 1949. The champions of four member leagues meet to decide the best club in the region: LIDOM (Dominican Republic), LMP (Mexico), LBPRC (Puerto Rico), and LVBP (Venezuela), joined over the years by guest entrants from Panama, Cuba, Colombia, Curaçao, and Nicaragua.

The tournament was founded in Havana, Cuba, and has since been hosted across the Caribbean basin, Mexico, and the United States. Cuba dominated the first decade; the Dominican Republic leads all countries today, and Tigres del Licey lead all clubs with eleven titles.

The 2027 Caribbean Series in Hermosillo

The 2027 edition will be played at Estadio Fernando Valenzuela in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, in early February 2027 — the first time the city hosts the tournament. Naranjeros de Hermosillo, the LMP's flagship franchise, call the venue home.
