Margarita Island hosted the Caribbean Series in 2014, and Mexico's Naranjeros de Hermosillo claimed the championship by defeating Puerto Rico's Indios de Mayagüez 7-1 in the final. The victory gave Hermosillo their second Series title and marked Cuba's return to the tournament for the first time since 1960.

The 2013 edition was won by Yaquis de Obregón in Hermosillo. Vegueros de Pinar del Río took the 2015 title in San Juan.
