Cuba won the inaugural Caribbean Series in 1949 and dominated the original era (1949–1960), claiming 7 of the first 12 tournaments. Professional baseball was dissolved after the 1961 revolution, and Cuba did not appear at the Caribbean Series for over five decades. Cuban teams returned in 2014 and competed again in 2019 and 2023. Cuba does not currently field a team in the Caribbean Series. The historic professional clubs — Alacranes del Almendares, Leones del Habana, Tigres de Marianao, and Elefantes de Cienfuegos — remain some of the most celebrated franchises in Caribbean baseball history.
