Founded on July 15, 1987, Caribes de Anzoátegui made their LVBP debut in the 1991-92 season under the name Caribes de Oriente, representing Venezuela's eastern Anzoátegui state. The club is based in Puerto La Cruz and plays at Estadio Alfonso 'Chico' Carrasquel, named in honor of the Venezuelan shortstop legend. In 2005 the franchise was renamed Caribes de Anzoátegui, adopting the name of the state that has been the team's home throughout its history. Among the club's prominent figures is co-owner Magglio Ordóñez, the former Detroit Tigers outfielder.
Caribes de Anzoátegui have become one of Venezuela's most competitive franchises, winning four LVBP championships: in 2010-11, 2014-15, 2017-18, and 2020-21.
