Camilo Pascual, born January 20, 1934, pitched 18 seasons in the majors from 1954 to 1971, most of them with the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins. He learned his famous curveball in Cuba's winter league from Adolfo Luque.
At home he pitched for the Elefantes de Cienfuegos and was the Cuban League MVP in 1955-56.
Pascual's 0.80 WHIP is the best in Caribbean Series history; the closest active pitcher, César Valdés, sits at 0.96. He shares the records for wins (6) and complete games (5) with Rubén Gómez and José Bracho, and Raúl Valdés has since matched the six wins.
Pascual went 2-0 with 11 strikeouts and a 2.50 ERA as Cuba won the 1956 Series, then went 2-0 again with 15 strikeouts, including a one-hit shutout, as Cuba won in 1960.
