José Bracho (1928 to 2011) never reached the majors, which makes his place in the record book even more striking. A sinking-fastball specialist, he spent 26 seasons in the Venezuelan league.
He debuted with Caracas in 1948-49 at age 20 and helped the club win four league titles. He also pitched in the Dominican winter league.
Bracho pitched in six Caribbean Series and shares the records for wins (6) and complete games (5) with Camilo Pascual and Rubén Gómez.
Decades after he retired, Bracho still held Venezuelan league records for wins (109), complete games (91), strikeouts (859) and innings (1,769 2/3), plus the single-season wins record with 15 in 1961-62.
